Board-certified gastroenterologists providing comprehensive digestive care.
Colonoscopy
Screening begins at age 45, or age 40 with family history. Performed in our AAAASF-certified suite under propofol sedation in 15-20 minutes. Polyps are removed during the same session. Sutab pill-form prep available. Sunday procedures offered.
During the procedure, your gastroenterologist examines the entire colon for polyps, inflammation, or other abnormalities. Any polyps found are removed on the spot and sent to pathology, with results in about one week. Follow-up schedule: 10 years if clean, 3-5 years if polyps are found.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Dr. Israel and Dr. Davidoff take a personalized approach, starting with a thorough history, then using blood work, stool tests, and colonoscopy to develop a treatment strategy based on your specific symptoms and preferences.
IBD requires ongoing management. Treatment options range from anti-inflammatory medications to newer biologics targeting specific inflammatory pathways. Regular colonoscopic monitoring helps track disease activity and screen for colorectal cancer, which IBD patients face higher risk for.
Colorectal Cancer Screening
Colorectal cancer can be asymptomatic. A screening colonoscopy finds and removes polyps before they become cancerous, preventing surgery and chemotherapy. Red flags: rectal bleeding, weight loss, or any change in bowel habits.
Prevention is central to our approach. Dr. Israel recommends a high-fiber diet, regular physical activity, and timely screenings. Early detection means the difference between a simple polypectomy and major surgery. Patients with family history or Lynch syndrome should discuss earlier screening.
Hemorrhoids
Treated through banding and infrared methods. External hemorrhoids typically resolve in 3-4 weeks with proper care. We treat in a separate office visit for your comfort. Safe treatment options available for pregnant patients.
Between visits, manage symptoms with increased water intake, dietary fiber, and by avoiding prolonged sitting or heavy lifting. OTC lidocaine cream and witch hazel pads can provide temporary relief. Important: have rectal bleeding evaluated, as it can also indicate other conditions including colorectal cancer.
