Clinical Focus
- Upper gastrointestinal disorders: Dr. Jacob has a clinical interest in the evaluation and management of upper gastrointestinal conditions, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing disorders, and peptic ulcer disease. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy (EGD) and utilizes small bowel capsule endoscopy to investigate disorders affecting the small intestine. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help prevent complications and improve quality of life for patients with these conditions.
- Liver disease: Dr. Jacob provides care for patients with a range of liver disorders, including fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, abnormal liver tests, and cirrhosis. Because many liver conditions can progress silently, timely evaluation and ongoing monitoring are important to identify disease early and guide effective treatment.
- Colorectal cancer screening: Dr. Jacob performs colonoscopy for both preventive screening and diagnostic evaluation. He works with patients to determine appropriate screening intervals based on age, personal history, and family history, with a focus on the early detection and removal of precancerous polyps to help prevent colorectal cancer.
- Inflammatory bowel disease and digestive disorders: Dr. Jacob manages chronic gastrointestinal conditions including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and disorders causing chronic diarrhea. He emphasizes a comprehensive, individualized approach to diagnosis and treatment, helping patients achieve symptom control and maintain long-term digestive health.
